Keolis in Australia
Tram systems
Keolis is 51% shareholder in KDR Victoria, operator of the Melbourne tram system Yarra trams, one of the world's biggest tram systems.
After an announcement in June 2009 and signature on 1st September, operations commenced on 30th November 2009. The contract is for an eight-year period with an optional seven year extension.
KDR has two main commitments to the franchise. Its Moving Safe Haven approach aims to make everything in and around the tram safer for passengers and road users. And its Think Like a Passenger philosophy, much like Keolis' global approach, puts the passenger first in everything the operator does. This also goes outside of tram operations and includes better coordination with the other public transport operators to achieve greater fluidity.
