The Thameslink route from Bedford to Brighton via St Pancras is currently operated by FirstGroup.
This is an important step for Keolis, who already operates 4 franchises in the United Kingdom, among which Southern with Govia.
At the end of the contract in 2015, Southern will be merged to Thameslink making it a 1 billion pound contract (currently 400 million pounds). This makes it a strategic franchise for Keolis to continue its expansion in the United Kingdom.
Keolis’ experienced bid team will be working over the coming months to understand the aspirations of stakeholders. The Department for Transport will be sending out the invitation to tender in October 2012. This seven years contract will be awarded in May 2013 and will be commencing in September 2013.
