Keolis has been awarded a new contract to operate and maintain a bus network in Virginia from 1 November 2020 for a period of five years.
On 15 June Keolis received a four-year extension to operate commuter rail in the Boston region. With the base operating contract due to expire in June 2022, the extended contract will run until June 2026. On 5 June Keolis was awarded a five-year extension to its current contract to operate the commuter rail in Central and Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area. Due to expire in July 2020, the extended contract will run until July 2025. These contract extensions reflect the confidence of transport authorities in Keolis as a partner and open the way for delivering even greater benefits to rail users in North America.
With over 1.2 million passenger trips recorded since the first day of service in February 2019, Newcastle light rail has become a popular public transport option for the city’s residents, making the city more liveable and sustainable.
On 7 February 2020, Keolis inaugurated the final 11 km long section of the automated metro network of Hyderabad on the new green line. India’s second-largest metro network, is now 69 km long and features three lines, launched in just over two years. The new line features seven new stations and connects central eastern Hyderabad to the two existing red and blue lines. This new milestone enhances Keolis’ position as a world leader in automated metro launch, operation and maintenance.
On 30th December 2019, Keolis’ Chinese joint venture Shanghai Keolis opened the last 3.88 km section of the Songjiang tram network.
The 31 km long network featuring 46 stations offers Songjiang residents and visitors a reliable, sustainable and comfortable shared mobility solution to move around the city. The network is expected to carry 170,000 passengers per day and to reduce urban journeys by car.
