Keolis Santé: n°1 in the French medical transport market
Keolis has partnered with Intégral and Drouillard, both market leaders in medical transport, to form Keolis Santé.
The new company, which represents annual revenue of 70 million euros, is 51% owned by Keolis and 49% by Intégral and Drouillard.
The management and development of Keolis Santé will be the responsibility of the executive teams at Intégral and Douillard, and the organisation benefits from their knowledge and experience in patient transport. Keolis will contribute its know-how as an operator and integrator of all daily transport modes.
The expertise of Keolis in areas such as marketing, HR management and IT will also ensure the business benefits from advanced workplace practices and development solutions already present in the public transport industry.

A market with strong growth potential, but needing to increase its professionalism
Totalling 5,500 business and 57,000 medical professionals, the medical transport sector is responsible for the transport of the sick, injured, and pregnant women in case of emergency or where medically required, by ambulance, light medical vehicles or public healthcare taxis.
The main industry activity consists of transporting patients between their home and medical centres for scheduled procedures or ongoing treatment.
Steady growth seen over recent years (+3.5% per annum) is linked to increasing demand from an aging population and changes to the way in which the French healthcare system is organised (e.g. grouping together of different healthcare establishments and the increase in outpatient and short-term hospital stays). It has traditionally been a fragmented market, and the large number of service providers has resulted in an inconsistent customer offering.
Transporting passengers and now patients
With its expertise in terms of customer experience, Keolis aims to improve the patient experience by improving training for ambulance drivers, introducing new communication tools for patients and diversifying the range of medical transport services offered.
Keolis Santé intends to play a pioneering role in professionalising the industry by working on all the areas essential for a high quality service (accessibility, punctuality, availability, safety, etc.) Like Keolis, Intégral and Douillard have placed a human approach at the heart of their business culture. Keolis Santé will draw on these same fundamental values in order to provide a patient-oriented, personalised mobility service.
Keolis adds a new form of mobility to its range of expertise
Keolis’ entry into the medical transport market is an obvious step, as it is already a leader in transport for passengers with reduced mobility. Medical transport is perfectly aligned with Keolis’ goal to provide everyday mobility solutions adapted and accessible to all passengers.
We are extremely happy and proud to announce this partnership with the two French industry leaders in medical transport, Intégral and Douillard, who share the same vision for addressing our business challenges. ‘We Care’ is a fundamental value of Keolis and is the governing principle behind this strategic development for the Group. By creating the number one medical transport network in France, our aim is to offer better transport services to patients, to become an important part in their healthcare experience, and do so at the lowest possible cost to our social security system.
