On 8 July 2019, elected officials of the Epinal conurbation authority (CAE ‒Communauté d’Agglomération d’Epinal), renewed their confidence in Keolis Group to operate the public transport network Imagine. This new 6-year public service concession begins on 1 January 2020. It will generate cumulative revenues of approximately 30 million euros. Keolis, which has operated the network since 2012, will be tasked with developing the transport offer in the region, notably by setting up evening transport services and developing a passenger information system. By the end of the contract, Keolis is committed to increasing the number of network users by 12% and revenues by 11% across the entire network.
Following a call to tender, the community council of the Epinal conurbation authority (in the east of France) has chosen to renew Keolis to operate and maintain its urban public transport service, Imagine. The aim of this new contract is to offer a more appealing, more connected form of mobility to the 45,000 residents of the five municipalities of the conurbation served.
A strengthened mobility offer
Mainly composed of seven urban routes, the new network will offer, as of 2020, new evening transport services on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Two departures, the first at 10.30pm and the second at 11.30pm, will facilitate returns from the city centre’s recreational areas (restaurants, cinemas, theatre, etc.).

A more connected network
A new ticketing system has been deployed since August 2019, prior to the introduction of open payment in 2020. This solution will enable passengers to pay for and validate their journeys directly, using their contactless payment card or smartphone.
Furthermore, a new passenger information display system (PIDS) will improve passenger information by means of screens in the region’s main hubs of activity (SNCF station, regional hospital and shopping centres), notably indicating the timetables of inter-regional networks, including the regional TER routes, and thus faciliting connections.
This system will be supplemented by the installation of 12 passenger information terminals, synchronised with the PIDS to indicate bus arrival times at the major stops of the network in real-time.
Passenger information will also soon be enhanced thanks to the launch of a mobile app indicating arrival times in real-time.
A network focused on the energy transition
Keen to promote more sustainable mobility, the CAE and Keolis will carry out the complete renewal of the existing vehicle fleet with the introduction of 25 mild hybride buses between 2020 and 2023.
