For the first time in a medium-sized French city, Keolis is deploying a contactless payment solution for buses. The service is compatible with all banks and contactless payment cards affiliated to MasterCard and Visa. The new service is designed to encourage local residents and occasional visitors to use the Linead public transport network and to improve the frequency and punctuality of the service.
2018 was an exceptional year of development for Keolis with many tenders won and growth in turnover and EBITDA of +10% and +15% respectively. At €5.93 Bn, turnover increased significantly notably thanks to the contract signed with Transport for Wales, and is now approaching the €6 billion milestone. This strong growth in turnover comes with an even larger increase in profitability (recurring EBITDA), which rose by 15% in 2018, from €342 M to €392 M.
Operating margin is 6.6%.
On 20 March 2019, Keolis launched the penultimate section of the Hyderabad automated metro adding 10 km of lines to the existing 46km network. The metro now connects the city from east to west and crosses Hitec City , a major business district which attracts a large number of companies and new residents to Hyderabad each year. Since the launch of the network in November 2017, Keolis has provided 50 million passenger journeys. Once completed, the network is expected to carry 1.5 million passengers per day.
Since the beginning of March, close to a hundred residents in Dijon, France, have decided to leave their car in a city car park for a whole month. This initiative led by DiviaMobilités, the network operated by Keolis Dijon, and Dijon Métropole, the local transport authority, aims to promote alternatives to personal cars and discover new ways of moving around the city.
The public transport market is changing rapidly and recruiting employees for all types of positions, from drivers to directors. Wrongly perceived as being exclusively for men and without career prospects, Public transport is an innovative sector and is far from being reserved only for men. Keolis supports the efforts of its subsidiaries striving to promote inclusion and workplace equality.
