EFFIA wins first parking contract in Belgium

02-02-2019
EFFIA, Keolis’ parking subsidiary, has won its first contract in Belgium, in the Greater Brussels region. This win strengthens the international profile of EFFIA and confirms its development ambitions in Belgium, initiated in 2017 with the acquisition of Alfa Park and Parkeren Roeselare.

Following a call for tender launched in 2018 by ‘parking.brussels’, the parking authority for the Greater Brussels region has awarded EFFIA a seven year contract for the CERIA-COOVI park and ride facility located on the city border of Brussels. This car park provides 1,300 spaces over five levels. From Spring 2019, it will be managed by three EFFIA employees.

The contract covers the management of customer payment systems and safety equipment, in addition to the daily running of the car park. Two million euros will be invested over the life of the contract in the latest generation technology for parking access and security monitoring. This includes a ticketless system that uses license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and a video surveillance system connected to the 24-hour operations control centre. EFFIA will also demonstrate its eco-friendly approach by installing rooftop solar panels, making it the largest deployment of solar panels on a car park in Belgium.

To provide customers with the best multimodal mobility experience, the car park is accessible from two of the city’s arterial roads and has a direct connection to Brussels’ metro network, meaning customers can reach the city centre in just 20 minutes. The CERIA COOVI park and ride facility is open 24 hours a day.
