Swiss Post finalises its sale of CarPostal France to Keolis Group

30/09/2019 Following the green light from the French Competition Authority, Swiss Post finalised its sale of CarPostal France to Keolis Group on 30 September 2019. Under the terms of the sale, Keolis, which is owned by SNCF (70%) and by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (30%), acquires the company and its subsidiaries, as well as its employees and vehicles. With the sale of CarPostal France, Swiss Post is withdrawing from the French transport market.

On 30 September 2019, the French competition authority approved the sale of CarPostal France to Keolis Group. This follows the announcement made by Swiss Post on 27 May 2019 to sell CarPostal France.

Swiss Post is delighted with this positive outcome, considering that Keolis enjoys a very good reputation and respects its expectations of a socially responsible integration of CarPostal France. The Group will be taking over management of all the subsidiaries as well as its employees and vehicles.

CarPostal France sold in a healthy and competitive situation

Following an initial investment phase and modifications to adapt to the French market, CarPostal France has achieved a level of financial stability over the last few years and enjoys a healthy and competitive economic situation. The sale, which includes shares in CarPostal France SAS, with all of its subsidiaries, also covers the various companies' assets (vehicles, buildings and property) and liabilities.

Strengthening Keolis’ presence in Eastern France

With 37,000 employees in France and more than 1.5 billion passengers carried in 2018, Keolis is the leading French urban transport operator with 90 networks including those in Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux and Rennes and intercity transport services in 75 departments.

Integrating the 1,200 employees from CarPostal France and its subsidiaries will enable Keolis to significantly strengthen its presence throughout Eastern France (Grand Est, Burgundy-Franche Comté, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Sud Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur), where CarPostal France operates six urban and seven intercity networks.

Keolis will be able to rely on the locations and regional knowledge of CarPostal France’s teams in order to accelerate the development of its activities in these regions.

We are delighted to have finalised the acquisition of CarPostal France. Its high-quality teams will help us to strengthen our territorial presence and to accelerate our development. We are very confident that the integration will be a success – Keolis and CarPostal France share the same values of commitment and professionalism, serving the needs of public transport authorities and passengers
