On 29 November, Keolis was selected by Odense Letbane to operate and maintain the new light rail network of Odense, which is now the second in Denmark. This 14.5 km-long network includes 26 stations and is planned to open by the end of 2020. This new project reinforces Keolis’ presence in Denmark where it is currently the operator of the country’s first light rail network (Aarhus) and so reinforces its position as an international leader in tram operations.
On 23 November 2018, the Metropolitan Council of Greater Nancy awarded Keolis the operation of its public transport network. The six year contract begins on 1 January 2019 and will generate a cumulative turnover of 346.8 million euros. This future public service delegation contract includes a major project to replace the existing rubber-tyred trams with trams that run on steel wheels. The network will also serve a larger population, with an increased employment catchment area, Keolis has committed to better integrate the local public transport and deliver seamless connections between Nancy and the various communes of the Métropole.
From 1 January 2019, Keolis will operate all public transport services for the 75 communes in Greater Bourg-en-Bresse (Agglomération du Grand Bassin de Bourg-en-Bresse), France. The four-year contract will generate a cumulative revenue of 37.5 million euros. Keolis will review mobility in line with the scale of the new urban area, which since 1 January 2017 includes 75 communes (instead of the previous 15). The two main challenges of this contract will be the integration and management of several dozen school routes within the public service concession and the introduction of an on-demand public transport service to meet the scope of this enlarged urban area.
On 15 November 2018, Orléans Metropole, the local transport authority, renewed its trust in Keolis for the operation and maintenance of its public transport network, known as Tao. The new contract will start on 1 January 2019 for a six-year period and is expected to generate a cumulative revenue of 395 million euros. In order to deliver a 100% electric transport network, Keolis will provide support to Orléans Métropole to achieve its ambitious objectives, this includes the renewal of the entire bus fleet with electric vehicles by 2024. Tao will then become the French transport network with the lowest level of carbon emissions. A range of innovative mobility services will also be introduced, including contactless payment on-board buses and trams, which will enhance the passenger experience.
On 19 November 2018, the French government named the Hello Paris consortium, comprised of Keolis and RATP Dev, as the operator of CDG Express, a new rail service which will provide a direct link between Paris Gare de l’Est (Paris-East station) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. This new line is expected to open on 1 January 2024 ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
