MBTA, the public agency responsible for operating most public transportation services in Greater Boston, Massachusetts, has awarded Keolis, its commuter rail operating partner, a $30 million contract to carry out Phases 2 and 3 of the project to install double track on the Franklin line, following the completion of Phase 1 in December.
Keolis’ Australian subsidiary, Keolis Downer, has started operating a new real-time on-demand transport service in Newcastle, as part of its Smart City Program. This new service builds on the success of existing on-demand services in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, where ridership continues to grow by over 5% each month. It provides the local community and visitors a better access to public transport and aims to shift from private cars to public transport
Keolis launched on June 21st the ION Light Rail Transit (LRT) – the Waterloo Region’s new rapid transit system in Ontario, Canada – at Kitchener's Fairway Station. The system will serve the residents and visitors of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, as well as surrounding rural municipalities. As part of the GrandLinq Consortium , Keolis Grand River – Keolis’ local subsidiary – is responsible for the 16 kilometers of light rail line operations for the next 10 years, and maintenance for the next 30 years. The contract, which was awarded in May 2014, is under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This is Keolis’ first light rail operation in North America.
02-18-2019 Keolis’ Australian subsidiary Keolis Downer, has started operating Newcastle’s new light rail service as part of the city’s multimodal transport network. Operations are starting ahead of schedule, giving local residents and visitors the opportunity to benefit from the new service sooner than expected. This new milestone reinforces Keolis’ presence in Australia where it has introduced and operated light rail networks, buses, on-demand transport and autonomous electric vehicles since 2009. It also illustrates Keolis’ commitment to support the delivery of seamlessly integrated, shared mobility systems that revitalise cities and makes them more enjoyable and more liveable
10-17-2018 Keolis has been awarded a €17.3 million-a-year contract to operate and manage the Greensboro Transit Authority’s (GTA) fixed-route bus and paratransit services starting in January 2019. The fixed route service comprises 16 routes and five Higher Education Area Transit (HEAT) routes, delivering approximately 4 million passenger trips annually. GTA’s paratransit services provide an additional 250,000 journeys per year.
