Keolis Downer, operator of Yarra Trams, is currently delivering services to peak patronage across its network, with Melbourne’s major events season underway.
Keolis, who has been operating the Gold Coast (Australia) tram network since 2014, opened a new 7.3km extension on 17 December 2017. This extension enhances the multimodality of Gold Coast’s transport network, and therefore helps the state of Queensland in their ambitions to accelerate the modal shift, in this dynamic and touristic coastal city.
By signing a strategic partnership with IVADO, Keolis will benefit from the expertise of one of the most important global excellence centres dedicated to mass data analysis, to develop innovative urban mobility solutions.

Keolis Downer, Keolis’ Australian subsidiary, has been chosen by the government of New South Wales (NSW) to operate and maintain the new integrated transport network in Newcastle. This new flagship contract enables Keolis to extend its presence in Australia.
Keolis has held the contract to operate and maintain Melbourne’s tram network, known as Yarra Trams, since 2009 when it became the world leader in tramway operation. In partnership with Downer, the leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand with over 100 years' rail experience, Keolis took on a major challenge: to modernise the largest and one of the oldest tram networks in the world. Keolis Downer, the Group’s local subsidiary, fulfils the Group’s ongoing commitment to offer the best possible service to its passengers.
