In preparation for full autonomy, Keolis, in partnership with Urban ICT Arena, Telia, Ericsson, Intel and T-engineering, demonstrated a 5G remotely controlled autonomous electric minibus at Kista Science Centre in Stockholm, using artificial intelligence to monitor the well-being and behaviour of passengers inside the vehicle.
On 29 September 2021, the conurbation authority of Grand Auch Coeur de Gascogne, in the French department of Gers, renewed its contract with Keolis to operate and maintain the whole of its public transport network, Alliance.
This new public service delegation contract begins on 3 January 2022 and is valid for a period of eight years.
On 24 August 2021, Keolis Downer – Keolis' subsidiary in Australia – secured an agreement with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) – through TransLink, the division of TMR with statewide responsibility for public transport in Queensland – to operate electric buses in its current contract based in northern Brisbane. By 2023, Keolis will roll out 16 electric vehicles – the largest fleet of electric vehicles in Queensland – while creating the first fully electric depot powered using renewable energies.
Région Sud has awarded Keolis public service delegation contracts to operate and maintain two sections of its regional public transport network covering the Alpes-Maritimes coastline and the Grasse inland area in southeast France. The two sections feature a fleet of 120 buses and coaches and include 17 lines: three high-frequency lines, two airport services, and 12 regular services.
