KEOLIS AND LE MANS: LOYALTY OVER TIME, A GUARANTEE OF PERFORMANCE
Since 1983, Keolis has been providing support to the metropole of Le Mans and SETRAM, which operates its urban transport network. This close cooperation has been extended to 2024, allowing the city to benefit fully from the Group’s expertise. It will also help Le Mans to continue extending its public transport offer, thus promoting the development of a network that is seen as exemplary among medium-sized cities.

KEOLIS AND LE MANS: 35 YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP, FOR THE BENEFIT OF PASSENGERS

The semi-public company SETRAM, which operates the network of Le Mans on behalf of Le Mans Metropole, has been relying on Keolis since 1983. At the end of 2017, the Group had its contract renewed for seven more years to help the community reach its goal of reducing private car use. Recognised as exemplary for a medium-sized city, notably through the successful reintroduction of the tram service in 2007 (75 000 passengers per day), the Le Mans network is structured around two tram lines and approximately 30 bus routes, including one high-frequency bus service launched in 2016. Although the city is very spread out, it allows the residents to access the town centre easily, and those in the centre to reach major facilities on the outskirts (the university, the MMArena stadium, the hospital complex...). To go even further in facilitating the daily life of the agglomeration’s 205,000 residents, SETRAM and Keolis have launched a major project to transform the network, as part of the new contract.

A NEW NETWORK WITH EVEN GREATER PERFORMANCE 

The existing network is evolving to better meet passenger expectations and adapt to changes in the region. Following the creation in January 2018 of Flexo Soirée, a service that helps suburban night-owls get home in the early hours of the morning on weekends, the entire network has been completely redesigned and optimised. The aim is to better adjust transport supply to demand from September 2018 through several means: reinforcing services on the T1 tram line, adjusting timetables to take new ways of life into account, Sunday services on-demand on nine bus routes, services to new neighbourhoods and new transversal links... And, in 2021, three new key city bus lines will be added to the network. The lines, called Chronolignes, will provide an optimised service (a high-frequency service with an extended range, priority at traffic lights and adapted bus lanes, extra services during school holidays...) similar to those of a high-frequency bus service, but less costly for the community. 

A NETWORK THAT INTEGRATES NEW TYPES OF MOBILITY

More and more choice, but with fewer cars. To offer an attractive alternative to the car, SETRAM and Keolis have developed a global transport offer integrating public transport modes (tram, bus, high-frequency bus services, transport on-demand, transport for people with reduced mobility) with soft or active modes

  • Ridesharing with the Boogi app deployed in 2019. Boogi is an intermodal ridesharing solution for door-to-door journeys or those that combine ridesharing with public transport
  • Cmabulle’: a ridesharing solution organised among – and kept secure by – parents for their children’s trips outside school (September 2018)
  • More and more electrically assisted bicycles available for long-term rental: 1,000 in September 2018 and 200 more in 2019
  • 3 new secure bicycle parks by 2020

INCREASINGLY CONNECTED MOBILITY TO FACILITATE DAILY JOURNEYS

To increase network patronage, SETRAM and Keolis are developing new digital solutions for all passengers: 

  • A new site, setram.fr, more user-friendly and equipped with new functions
  • A mobile app with geolocation for accessing timetables in real-time, anywhere and at any time, calculating multimodal itineraries, finding an alternative itinerary in the event of a disruption. (September 2018)
  • Launch of the M-Ticket, which allows users to buy and validate their transport tickets on their smartphone (2019)  
  • A new online shop with remote topping-up of subscriptions (2020) 
  • Timetables, itineraries and network tariffs placed on open data platforms to promote the development of innovative digital solutions, like the MOOVIT app launched in June 2017.
