From 9 to 12 June 2019, all urban public transport operators will meet in Stockholm for the 2019 edition of the UITP Global Summit. This week Keolis began operating 43 fully electric buses on three of the four new bus rapid transit (BRT) routes in Amiens on behalf of Amiens Métropole. Called Nemo, these four new BRT routes, make up the backbone of the whole Ametis public transport network where they are expected to constitute more than 70% of total network traffic across the Amiens intercommunal area. Amiens Métropole and Keolis forecast an increase of 28% in passenger numbers over the next five years as a result of this new network. This BRT system is the first of its kind in France and represents a major milestone in the roll-out of Keolis’ electro-mobility strategy which will see the Group become France’s leading operator of electric shared mobility networks by the end of 2019.
Since the beginning of March, close to a hundred residents in Dijon, France, have decided to leave their car in a city car park for a whole month. This initiative led by DiviaMobilités, the network operated by Keolis Dijon, and Dijon Métropole, the local transport authority, aims to promote alternatives to personal cars and discover new ways of moving around the city.
The public transport market is changing rapidly and recruiting employees for all types of positions, from drivers to directors. Wrongly perceived as being exclusively for men and without career prospects, Public transport is an innovative sector and is far from being reserved only for men. Keolis supports the efforts of its subsidiaries striving to promote inclusion and workplace equality.
