The Keolis Group, in partnership with Amey, has been selected to operate and maintain Luas, Dublin’s iconic tram network.

The KeolisAmey joint venture (65% owned by Keolis and 35% by Amey) is to become the new partner for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA) to support the development of this strategic network, which handles over 55 million journeys per year.

The contract, representing a cumulative value of up to €1.3 billion, will commence on 1 September 2026 for an initial seven-year term, with an optional extension of up to six years. The Keolis Group will work closely with the outgoing operator to ensure an orderly transition for both passengers and the network’s 680 employees.

This new contract builds on KeolisAmey’s successes in the United Kingdom, notably in London with the Docklands Light Railway (DLR)—where the contract was renewed in 2024—and in Manchester with the Metrolink network, which the group has operated since 2017.

For Luas, the Group will implement a service improvement programme including an initial deep clean of the network's 67 stops, the deployment of the Group’s proven operations and maintenance processes, and remote monitoring solutions for rolling stock and infrastructure to detect and prevent faults.

With this new contract, Keolis establishes a presence in Ireland which brings its global footprint to 14 countries.
