Vichy Communauté has awarded Keolis the contract to operate its Mobivie public transport network, which carries over 1.2 million passengers each year. From 1 August 2026, Keolis will take over from the current operator, Transdev, and run the network for a period of eight years up to 31 July 2034.

The contract, worth over €40 million in cumulative revenue, will serve a population of nearly 55,300 residents across several municipalities, including Vichy, Cusset, Bellerive-sur-Allier, Abrest, Creuzier-le-Vieux and Hauterive.

A mobility offer tailored to local needs

As the new operator, Keolis will manage the entire Mobivie network, which includes:

  • 8 regular bus lines,

  • 2 dynamic on-demand transport zones,

  • and a soft mobility offer featuring both bike share and long-term bike hire schemes.

The service offering has been redesigned to meet the needs of all user profiles—commuters, students, senior citizens and visitors and reflect changing mobility patterns across the region.

A network designed to boost regional appeal and service quality

Keolis will deploy an integrated mobility solution based on:

  • A revised bus network aligned with local mobility patterns, including improved access to the sporting academy CREPS and the aquatics centre, and more services between Bellerive-sur-Allier and Vichy,

  • A simplified and fully digitalised on-demand transport service, with bookings available up to one hour before departure,

  • A completely revamped bike offer, featuring a brand new fleet of 210 bikes available for bike share and long-term rental, along with a new “campus bike” scheme using refurbished bicycles, to promote accessibility, the circular economy and sustainable transport,

  • A brand new bus fleet, with nearly 50% of vehicles powered by electricity.

  • A Mobivie mobile app designed to digitise traveller information.

In addition, Vichy Communauté will roll out contactless open payment across the network.

Local expertise to support Vichy Communauté

With a well-established presence in the departments of Allier (Moulins, Montluçon) and Puy-de-Dôme (Riom, Thiers, Issoire, Cournon d’Auvergne and Ambert), where it already operates several urban and interurban networks, Keolis will draw on the expertise of local teams to ensure a smooth transition and efficient takeover in summer 2026.

“We warmly thank Vichy Communauté for appointing us to operate the Mobivie network for the next eight years. We are honoured to support the city region as it enters a new chapter in sustainable mobility, with a redesigned, enhanced and more attractive range of services that benefits all residents. Our teams are fully committed to ensuring a smooth transition and delivering high-quality service.”
